Starbucks to open at Maxi ICA Stormarknad Haninge

Today, Starbucks opens at Maxi ICA Stormarknad in Haninge, south of Stockholm – the first Starbucks store to open under the licensing agreement between ICA and Starbucks. The newly opened Starbucks store is directly adjacent to the ICA store and offers customers the full range of high-quality coffee as well as Starbucks bakery items, salads and sandwiches.

“This marks the real starting point for the long term partnership between Starbucks and ICA. It feels great and we believe strongly in the location next to ICA Maxi in Haninge. We are convinced that the presence of Starbucks will be appreciated by our customers and further strengthen the attractiveness of this shopping centre,” says Anders Svensson, CEO of ICA Sverige AB.

There will be a total of 15 jobs, including a store manager and four shift leaders. The store occupies existing premises next to Maxi ICA Stormarknad in Haninge and has two entrances one from outside and one from inside the Maxi store.

Arjan Oudejans, vice president, Branded Solutions at Starbucks EMEA, adds: “We are extremely excited about the opening of this first licensed Starbucks store with ICA. It shows our dedication to further developing the grocery channel into the Nordics and the EMEA region* as a whole.”

The Starbucks store totals 145 square metres, of which about 70 square metres comprise the store section where there are armchairs and traditional café tables as well as a long bench. There will also be outdoor seating.
