As part of ICA Gruppen, ICA Banken is pursuing a joint and ambitious sustainability strategy grounded in the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. Through its membership in the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative, ICA Banken is further strengthening this ambition. This will be noticed in the form of new functions and services that help customers make sustainable choices on matters concerning their personal finances.
“The financial markets have an enormous impact on economic, environmental and social sustainability. It therefore goes without saying for us to do what we can to create the best possible conditions for coming generations. Through our membership in the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative we want to send a clear signal, both to the market and our customers, that we take these issues with utmost seriousness,” says Marie Halling, CEO of ICA Banken.
About the UN Principles for Responsible Banking
The UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a partnership between the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the financial sector. The organisation has more than 450 members including some of the world’s leading banks, asset managers and insurance companies. In adherence to the Principles for Responsible Banking, banks identify and measure the environmental and social impacts of their business activities and publicly report on their progress on a regular basis. The members must also set and implement targets in areas in which they have the greatest impact. The principles provide a framework for banks to systematically understand their risks and embrace the opportunities that arise in the transition to more sustainable economies.
